How to Plan a Picnic-Themed Pre-Wedding Shoot
There’s something timeless about two people spending a slow afternoon together with the one you love, in a place that feels like your own little world—no phones, no noise—just the two of you, sun settling down, painting session, the breeze, and a basket of sweet little things.
That’s exactly the essence we wanted to capture for Palkesh and Gujan in their picnic-themed pre-wedding shoot—a dreamy afternoon on the outskirts of Hyderabad, filled with golden light, laughter, and quiet romance. We set up a cosy mat beneath the trees, styled the space with fresh fruits, flowers, and books, and added a little personal touch with paints and a canvas—something that reflected their shared love for creativity. What unfolded was pure magic—a series of heartfelt, candid moments that felt less like a photoshoot and more like a slow, intimate date in the natural world.
If you’re dreaming of a pre-wedding shoot that feels effortless yet meaningful, this picnic-inspired photoshoot might be just the inspiration you need. Everything about the day— from the quiet location on the outskirts of Hyderabad to the creative little touches—was planned to reflect their personalities and connection. In this blog, I’m sharing how we brought the entire setup to life, along with a few favourite moments that made this shoot feel so special.
Pick the Right Location
Look for a quiet, lush spot—like a hidden meadow, a forest edge, or a breezy hilltop. Nature does half the styling for you here, as the earthy tones and countryside feel give the photos a soft, timeless charm without needing any elaborate setup.
One of the standout shots was of a simple scene with a basket of sunflowers resting on the hay-like grass—it felt raw, rustic, and beautifully real.
Style a Cosy Picnic Setup
We styled a relaxed, picnic-inspired scene using a soft mat, a wicker basket, some fresh fruits, drinks, books, and a few wildflowers. It instantly set the mood for comfort and intimacy.
Add an Activity for Candid Magic
Here’s the real secret to natural, unposed photos: give the couple something to do. This couple painted together! The joy, the mess, the soft laughter—it brought out such raw emotion.
We made the most of golden hour— One of the sweetest moments was when Palkesh kissed Gunjan’s forehead, wrapped in the warmth of the setting sun. Simple, tender, and full of love.
We also captured a few black and white portraits—raw, honest, and full of feeling. With no props and no distractions, these frames told a different story. It was just the two of them, laughing, leaning into each other, sharing unspoken conversations: Timeless, tender, and completely them.
Some of the most beautiful photos came from moments when they weren’t even aware of the camera—just being themselves, fully present with each other. Whether it was a quiet smile, a shared laugh, or simply sitting together in comfortable silence, these candid frames captured their connection in the most honest way.
A picnic-style pre-wedding shoot is a beautiful way to tell your love story—calm, heartfelt, and centred around who you are as a couple. It’s not about stiff poses or grand locations. It’s about sitting on the grass with your loved one, sharing fruit and stories, and letting the camera quietly capture the love that’s already there.
If this sounds like your kind of shoot, we’d love to plan something unique for you, too. We’ll bring the lens, you bring the love.
